Egyptian police are seen climbing on the gates at the main Egyptian crossing point into the Gaza Strip on May 18, 2013.


in a haze of grief and panic over seven lost Egyptian soldiers, we punished hundreds of stranded Palestinians by blocking the Gaza Strip crossing, effectively diminishing their already limited mobility

it is not a ‘benevolent’ option to help Palestinians under siege in Gaza, but a responsibility on our part that meets only the most basic tenets of human decency

egyptians: this is a massive and disgusting shame on egypt, on me, on you

AND, in spite of our unabashed lack of humanity, i heard that a stranded Palestinian boy proposed to a girl, and now they are engaged, in spite of everything, in spite of us
