Amany Omar

From the Humans of Cairo Project:

“I rebel and break boundaries, one step at a time.”

Amany Omar is a university student who started participating in the political life when Jan 25 happened. She traveled from Tanta to Tahrir square, Cairo during the 18 days, accompanied by her mother.

Amany said it is not very common in Tanta to have girls participating in the political spectrum or taking part in protests. Yet since the revolution many boundaries started to get broken.

“Tanta is full of limitations on the mixed atmosphere of having boys and girls interacting in public. In university of Tanta we have professors who discriminate against girls that lead a liberal lifestyle.”
